Explore La Romana.

The history of La Romana dates back to the late 19th century when it was established as an oil town. The city's growth accelerated in 1911 with the construction of a large sugar mill, which attracted workers from across the Caribbean and transformed La Romana into a prominent center for sugar production. This industrial boom laid the foundation for its diverse and multicultural community. In the 1970s, the development of the Casa de Campo resort marked a shift towards tourism, further diversifying the local economy. Today, La Romana seamlessly blends its historical roots with modern amenities, offering visitors a unique glimpse into the Dominican Republic's past and present.
