Explore Cape Canaveral.

Cape Canaveral's history dates back to 1513 when Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de León first visited the area. The name "Canaveral," meaning "place of canes or reeds," reflects its early Spanish influence. In the mid-20th century, the cape transformed into a hub for missile testing and space exploration, culminating in the establishment of the Kennedy Space Center in 1962.

This evolution from a quiet coastal region to the forefront of space exploration highlights Cape Canaveral's significant role in both American history and technological advancement.
